Survey to assess quake losses from tomorrow


QUETTA: Survey for assessing the losses in the quake-hit areas of Balochistsan will begin tomorrow.At least 99 aftershocks of severe nature were recorded during the five days after the devastating earthquake. On the other hand, relief activities are underway in full swing. The officials told that the survey for assessing the quake losses would kick off from tomorrow, which would be completed in 10/15 days. Although relief activities have been geared up, but the severity of cold intensifying piling up miseries on the affectees. Met Department Director General, Qamruz Zaman said that the showers not expected in the days to come, but the cold would intensify and the mercury could dip down to minus 5. He said that 99 aftershocks of significant magnitude have been witnessed thus far and last night alone seven aftershocks were recorded, whose magnitude was in the range of 3 to 3.9.On the other hand, complaints from several quake-hit areas relating to relief goods not reaching being received, while the affectees marched to the central relief camps for recording their protests. Kali Tangyan and Kali Tarawan affectees irked by not getting relief goods attempted blocking the highway at Ziarat this morning, but they dispersed peacefully on the assurance of relief and succour from the relief operation and local administration.
